With over 80 years’ experience building infrastructure which connects communities across New Zealand, Fulton Hogan is proud to continue to be part of the Christchurch rebuild through the redevelopment of the central city’s transport network.

An Accessible City is the transport chapter of the Christchurch City Council’s Christchurch Central Development Plan. It is being delivered by the Council and the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA). The plan aims to improve traffic flow and provide safer, more people-friendly way for people to get around the city.

Fulton Hogan has started work on three Central City transport projects under this plan.

“These projects are an important step towards creating a modern, attractive people-friendly city and we are proud to be playing our part in making Christchurch City more accessible,” said Canterbury Regional Manager, Craig Stewart.

These transport projects focus on improving traffic flow to anchor projects and focus on physical changes to the roading network associated with the new Bus Interchange and the Avon River Precinct.

They will connect one way east bound conversions on Tuam Street with Colombo and Lichfield Streets which will progressively be converted into a one-way route to Barbadoes Street.

Other works will soon begin and work on the city centre transport network is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.
