Simeon Quay Pump Station Takes Shape

Contrary to belief, Friday the 13th brought good luck to the project team working on the Lyttelton Wastewater work package 3 project. A warm, dry autumn morning provided perfect conditions for the concrete roof pour on the Simeon Quay pump station.

The team are 22 months into construction of the four pump stations situated in Simeon Quay, Cashin Quay, Governor’s Bay and Diamond Harbour. The works are part of the Lyttelton Wastewater Scheme transferring the wastewater from the harbour to the main Bromley treatment plant.

The concrete pour marked a major milestone in the project as this finalises the major civil works on the Simeon Quay pump station building, allowing the internal fit out to begin. The Fulton Hogan crew are now able to focus on the construction of the ancillary works around the pump station which include retaining walls, a generator slab and a surge vessel slab.

With nine months left of the project the team are 70% through the works the team is concentrating on the completion of Simeon Quay and its commissioning. With Simeon Quay operational, the final decommissioning works at the Cashin Quay, Governor’s Bay and Diamond Harbour waste water treatment plants can begin as well as the remaining construction works on these sites.
