Promoting economic growth

To help promote economic growth, the Te Atatu Interchange is one of five projects currently under construction to complete the Western Ring Route – one of the Government’s seven roads of national significance.

The upgrade involves widening the North-western motorway between the Te Atatu Road and Patiki Road interchanges, widening all five ramps on the interchange, enhancing existing facilities for walkers and cyclists and widening and raising the Te Atatu Road overbridge.

Minimising environmental impact

Thanks to Fulton Hogan’s decades of experience in storm-water systems, the upgrade will also include building a facility for storm-water treatment, before it is discharged into the Waitemata Harbour.

Because community is so important to our Fulton Hogan team, we are passionate about minimising environmental impacts and our development of the interchange will feature landscaping and planting throughout.

Once completed, the Western Ring Route will be a strategic alternative to SH1, central Auckland and the Auckland Harbour Bridge. It will provide a 47 kilometre-long link with the Waterview Connection project and its new interchange at Great North Road – connecting the North-western and South-western Motorway (SH20). We’re proud to be part of such a meaningful infrastructure development and wish the local community great success.
